The Summit on Physician-Industry Collaboration I

Throughout the day, Prognosis will feature updates from the Summit on Physician-Industry Collaboration taking place today at the Newseum in Washington, DC.  At this event, 75 leaders from  the healthcare industry, academia, government and patient advocacy organizations are discussing how to structure the working relationships between the healthcare industry and physicians to advance innovation while protecting consumer interests.

The event is part of the National Dialogue for Healthcare Innovation, an initiative of the Healthcare Leadership Council designed to bring together diverse voices to build consensus on key issues affect ting the future of American medical innovation.

Currently, the participants are discussing how the framing of today’s discussions, with speakers from industry, academia and Capitol Hill underscoring the complexity of the issue, how to put strong principles and assurances of transparency in place without undermining the pace of lifesaving innovation.
