Capitol Hill Briefing Will Focus on Physician-Industry Collaboration
The Healthcare Leadership Council, as part of its National Dialogue for Healthcare Innovation (NDHI) initiative, is hosting a briefing for congressional staffers on the issue of physician-industry collaboration to develop patient-centered healthcare innovations.
The briefing is taking place in the Cannon Caucus Room in the Cannon House Office Building on Wednesday, June 13 from noon to 1 p.m.
While the new health reform law includes “sunshine” provisions to ensure transparency and public discourse, the dialogue on what’s best for patients continues. This Capitol Hill briefing will focus on how to ensure principled collaboration that serves the public interest and furthers the discovery of new cures, treatments and medical technologies.
Speakers will include HLC President Mary R. Grealy, David Charles, M.D., chief medical officer of the Vanderbilt University Clinical Neurosciences Institute, Phyllis Greenberger, president and CEO of the Society for Women’s Health Research, Richard Murray, M.D., vice president and head of the Global Center for Scientific Affairs at Merck & Co., and William Silverman, D.O., family practice physician and former trustee, American Osteopathic Association.
