HLC presents Community Care of North Carolina with Wellness Frontiers Award
Today the Healthcare Leadership Council presented Community Care of North Carolina (CCNC) with its HLC Wellness Frontiers Award to recognize the public-private partnership’s quality and efficiency in serving the state’s Medicaid population and particularly the high quality of care it delivers to patients in rural areas.
Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) participated in the award ceremony along with HLC president Mary Grealy, Dr. Tom Sibert, COO for Wake Forest Baptist Health, and Dr. Allen Dobson, Jr, M.D., president of CCNC.
They discussed the success the organization has had in integrating regional networks of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, hospitals, health departments, social service agencies, and other community organizations.
“Where successful healthcare innovation is taking place and cutting-edge thinking is being applied to wellness and prevention, we want to shine a spotlight,” said Mary Grealy.
The HLC Wellness Frontiers Award is presented to organizations, employers, and communities that successfully promote wellness and disease prevention. CCNC is an excellent example of cost savings and effectiveness. Its Informatics Center supplies care alerts and real-time patient data, and its community-based, population management approach has yielded significant health improvements and cost savings.
