“Remove barriers to telehealth, chronic disease management” – HLC Urges CONNECT for Health Act Passage to Protect Access for Millions of Americans
The Healthcare Leadership Council (HLC), an association of CEOs and C-suite executives from all sectors of healthcare, sent a letter to Congressional leaders commending them for reintroducing the Creating Opportunities Now for Necessary and Effective Care Technologies (CONNECT) for Health Act. This bipartisan legislation would expand telehealth access and make flexibilities permanent.
“This bill ensures that millions of Americans – particularly those living in rural areas, medically underserved communities, and those with transportation or mobility limitations – will continue to have access to critical healthcare services without unnecessary burdens,” said Katie Mahoney Executive Vice President and Chief Policy Officer of HLC. “Beyond protecting access, the bill’s permanent expansion of telehealth delivers value by enhancing care coordination, facilitating the management of chronic diseases, and thereby improves overall outcomes.”
“Without congressional action, these advancements are at risk of expiring on September 30, potentially disrupting access to care for millions of Medicare beneficiaries,” underscored Mahoney.
The letter, which you can view here, was sent to the bill’s bicameral co-sponsors Sens. Brian Schatz (D-HI) and Roger Wicker (R-MS), along with Reps. Mike Thompson (D-CA) and David Schweikert (R-AZ).
This letter follows HLC’s recent endorsement of the legislation in coordination with the office of Sen. Schatz, alongside a strong list of more than 150 endorsing organizations.
