Part D Open Season is Just Around the Corner

The open season for the Medicare Part D prescription drug program is coming early this year.  It will start on October 15 and continue through December 7.  This is a time for Medicare beneficiaries to take a look at their prescription drug coverage and at the Part D plans available in their states.  With average premiums and co-pays remaining at low levels for 2012, this is an opportune time for beneficiaries to make certain they’re getting the best value.

Recently, I had an opportunity to do an interview for the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) website about the Part D program, its popularity among seniors, what factors are keeping it affordable and some of the challenges it still faces.  We’ll be discussing the Part D program and seniors’ attitudes toward it in greater detail as the open enrollment period approaches.
